Älskar man texturen och lystern hos äkta omålade material och vill se TIG-svetsfogarna, krom-molybenstålrören och mässingslödningarna på ram och gaffel, så är klarlackerad ram något alldeles extra. Hantverk är inte bara slutresultatet utan arbetsprocessen också. Och båda ska hedras efter förtjänst.

Vi har redan tillverkat några klarlackerade ramar på specialbeställning, men det är lite marigt att förutsäga slutresultatet. Klacklack är inte en mörkgrå metallic. Skiftningar och spår från arbetsprocessen, där ramdelarna doppas i rostskyddande zinkfosfatbad, kan synas. Vissa älskar det. Andra inte alls.

Till nästa ramleverans i vår, kommer vi att beställa ett antal obehandlade ramar och gafflar för klarlackering. Så det är först till kvarn som gäller. De som är intresserade av en klarlackerad cykel kan ställa sig i kö genom att skriva det på Facebook, eller om ni är blyga, ta det med er cykelhandlare.

Det känns fint att äntligen kunna visa upp Pilen Sport. Som ni och vi har väntat. Att ta fram en ny modell som lever upp till Pilens höga krav innebär hårt arbete. Och så ska det förstås vara. Men ingen möda har varit bortkastad. Det som ska göras, ska göras rätt. Och vi vill göra det som Pilen gör bäst: erbjuda maximalt med cykel för pengarna. Vad är det för skillnad mellan modellerna från Pilenfabriken? Pilen Lyx är den starka, spänstiga och pålitliga klassiska cykeln. Pilen Sport den ungdomliga, smidiga och snabba klassiska cykeln. In addition to Pilen Lyx we are proud to present the Pilen Special with a selection of new paint options and select parts. Due to high spring-time demand for the Pilen Lyx, we will introduce the Pilen Special slowly at first with more options to come. Read more about Pilen Special.

These selections are available from 2011-05-24. More select parts and colours to be announced. A clear-coated steel edition for instance.

And of course Pilen Sport – for which we can't give an exact time of delivery yet.

Yesterday we heard the sad news that SRAM are to stop manufacturing the i-Motion 9 hub gear with immediate effect. Sadly this means we can no longer offer the Pilen Superlyx 9-speed and, as of today it cannot be ordered from us. SRAM are introducing a new hub in the spring, but it is still under wraps and very hush-hush. Of course we are disappointed but we are not discouraged. Adjusting to change is a part of the bicycle business.

Despite my background as a road and time trial cyclist I have become increasingly interested in town cycling especially since having children. I am convinced that town and city bikes are the way forward for everyday transport for everyone, including off duty bike racers. My new bicycle shop “There” will make this the focus of its offer.

I found the Pilens when I was researching the business and was attracted at first by their simple business philosophy. They are also some of the nicest people I have worked with and these two factors encouraged me to import their bikes.

Vi fick ett brev från Philip i Portland, Oregon. Han hade gjort ett bildspel och skrivit ett brev från "sin cykel": en Pilencykel som tagit sig hela vägen över Atlanten. Vi är så tacksamma att Pilencyklarna tar sig tid att berätta för oss om sitt liv med Pilencykeln. Och Portland verkar vara en riktig härlig cykelstad!

Vi har haft fint besök i dagarna av Anders från cykelaffären Veloform i Göteborg. Som sällskap hade han med sig Sören som är en passionerad Pilencyklist. De hade på begäran med sig någonting så fascinerade som ett Rohloff Speedhub 14.

"Ett vad?", säger kanske en del av er nu. På andra börjar hjärtat slå lite fortare – och det med all rätt. Men både grupperna undrar nog ändå, varför det? Vad har Rohloff med Pilen att göra? Ett världskänt tyskt nav som bara de inbitna cykelfantasterna känner till och som få sett i verkliga livet och ännu färre provkört. Det ska vi berätta nu. Håll i hattarna så kör vi. Dagen efter motorns dag tog Martin, Magnus och barnen Landrovern till Hultfreds flygplats och flyguppvisningen som har något så orhört exotiskt som en äkta flygande Vickers Supermarin Spitfire på programmet. Det blev en liten film och några fina fotografier på skönheterna.

On August first and second, and for the seventy-first time in a row, Målilla launched its popular exhibition Motor's Day – a paradise for all persons interested in motors and engines.

The exhibition have the largest number of engines running in Sweden and boasted about five hundred exhibitors with all possible machines with an emphasis on the old. Visitors numbered in the thousands during the two days.

The filmmaker and photografer Magnus cooked up a small night cycle film when spring stood luscious and blackbirds were singing. It shows you that Pilen is an excellent bike even at night and you can feel safe riding your Pilen on both pitch dark roads and in evening traffic. A Pilen is comfortable in any environment. So crank up the volume and enjoy the song from birds and well-oiled hubs.

Today we are happy and proud in a way that you seldom allows yourself to be! We, of all companies in Hultsfred Municipality, has been designated Business of the Year Businesses Association ! It feels like, well maybe not a confirmation, but ... it fuels our spritits! It shows that we are doing something that is appreciated.

After a fantastic Mediterranean menu and a long ceremony, it was time for us to get up on stage and receive flowers and a diploma! It felt great! Many thanks to Hultsfreds municipalities and companies for this honor and award!

Our Filmophotograph and web guy Magnus has redesigned the site – so that You should be able to search and find with ease. Each retailer now has their own map shown on their respective page.

We also have built a new section on the website and named it Merry Pilen Bikers. There we will show particularly interesting Pilen bikers that we've come to know. We also want people who are not ashamed to boast about your rolling friend to send in a nice little story about you and your Pilen, your best Pilen image, where you live – and maybe You will be added to the Merry bunch of Pilen bikers on our website. You can view the Map where the Merry Pilen Bikers will be shown. For the moment there are not much to see, and no international bikers added yet. But time is on our side.

A new site with some modern solutions has been our top priority for some time now. The new site is different from the old mainly in that it is bilingual. The vast majority of the pages are both in Swedish and English. The reason is that the reputation of Pilen has reached far outside good old Sweden, and we would like to inform about our beloved bike to both Charles, Isabelle and Domhildur.

The Pilen cykel company has re-organised its factory and hired several new employees. As usual, we have focused our attention on the beauty of people, materials, machinery, tools and bicycle components.
